Antigone projects

Projects

Students will choose at least one project from each of the following categories in order to achieve the number of points the students wants to gain for a grade.

A  = 90 - 100 points

B = 80 - 89 points 

C = 70 - 79 points

D = 60 - 69 points

The projects are due on the dates provided.  LATE WORK  will automatically be awarded only ONE HALF of the possible points.  *There are no exceptions to the due dates.*  Students will have to make arrangements to turn in the projects early if that student will be absent on the due date.

 

Choose one from each of the following categories:

    

  •  Artistic Activities:

               A)  Illustrate a scene from Antigone.  The project must be presented on unlined paper or on tag board.  Smaller or less intricate projects will receive fewer points.  20 points

               B)  Create a mask for the Choragus.  His attributes must be reflected in the mask.  the student must be prepared to explain the mask.  30 points 

               C)  Create a descriptive poster for the play,  Antigone, that will soon premier at the Dionysian Festival.  Minimum size is 14"X22".  Larger more complex, projects will be worth more points.  20 points 

               D)  Create a 3-D diorama of a scene from the play.  30 points 

 

  • Oral Activities:

               E)  Memorize a soliloquy from the play.  The teacher must approve soliloquy.  40 points 

               F)  With a group of 3 students, memorize and perform the Prados, Ode 1, Ode 2, Ode 3, or Ode 4.  (first come first served)  30 points 

               G)  Orally summarize one of the scenes to the class.  The teacher must approve the scene  20 points 

               H)  Create an infomercial on Antigone.  You must give the audience a reason to go see the play.  The infomercial must be recorded.  The script will be required when it is performed in front of the class.  30 points 

 

  • Composition Activities:

            I)  Write  a modern-day version of Antigone.  The play must have at least 5 characters and be at least 3 scenes in length.  40 points 

            J)  Write a news article about Antigone's demise.  20 points

            K)  Write a review of the play as if you were a judge at the Dionysian Festival.  Include reasons the play did or did not win prizes and why.  20 points

            L)  Write a letter of explanation from Antigone to Haemon explaining why antigone must defy his father in the burial of her brother.  Remember that Haemon and Antigone are engaged to be married.  20 points

***Artistic and Oral Activities are due on Monday, November 29--NO exceptions--If you are not going to be in class, you need to make arrangements ahead of time
